Brian Coons

Brian Coons is the PLCB’s chief information officer (CIO). He is responsible for leading and managing a complex information technology (IT) portfolio of people, infrastructure, systems, processes and projects that support the strategic and tactical needs of the agency. His responsibilities include IT policy, IT portfolio management, security with critical infrastructure protection, IT architecture, information quality and e-Government. 

Brian has more than 35 years of experience working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the PLCB, he was the testing and quality assurance manager for the statewide agency SAP implementation, and he was an IT auditor for the Pennsylvania Office of Budget. He joined the PLCB in 2006 to manage the on-premise implementation of Oracle ERP applications. He led the Business Operations and Application Development teams for many years before becoming the Assistant CIO in 2022. 

A resident of Swatara Township, Dauphin County, Brian graduated with bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Penn State. In his free time, Brian enjoys gardening, traveling to the beach and spending time with his pets.
